It grows at a medium rate and under ideal conditions can live approximately 50 years. It does well in direct or indirect sunlight, though it usually requires a bright environment. It prefers evenly moist soil but will not tolerate standing water. Water once or twice each week as needed. It benefits from regular feeding. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soil. Parts are toxic to humans and animals, so use care around children and pets.
