Key Attributes

Specimen. Soft, textured evergreen foliage. One of the narrower selections of Hinoki cypress although still roughly pyramidal in habit.

Considerations

Consider planting at least 6-8' from homes to reduce pruning needs and to provide sunlight to the foliage on all sides. Hinoki cypress look their best when the bottom is wider and fuller than the top.

While rarely damaged by deer during warmer months, it's a good idea to protect the base from browse (and rut) from November through March in areas with high deer pressure, especially for new transplants.

Cultural Needs

Grows best in full to part sun. Prefers moist to average, well drained soil. Best planted in moderately protected spots away from harsh, winter winds.
