Rosa 'Meisentmil' - Lemon Drift® Rose

Price

$54.99

From the Drift® Collection of Roses:

"Lemon Drift® offers the perfect shade of yellow to brighten the garden. This rose has a very bushy, compact, and rounded habit."

Currently, this cultivar is not available in the eastern US. Use this page as a reference and look for Blushing® Drift rose instead.

"Drift® Roses are a cross between full-size groundcover roses and miniature roses. From the former, they kept toughness, disease resistance and winter hardiness. From the miniatures, they inherited their well-managed size and repeat-blooming nature.

"The low, manageable habit of Drift® Roses makes them perfect for gardens small to large, for planters, and for mass commercial plantings. They brighten up borders, fill in empty spaces, meander around established plants, and can control erosion on hillsides and slopes."

Growth Rate

6-12" per year

Sunlight

Full sun (6+ hours) is requisite for optimal flowering.

Soil Moisture

Grows well in moist (well drained), average, and dry soils. Will tolerate mild droughts once established. Best flowering will occur in moist, well-drained to average soils.

Bloom Time

In the Pittsburgh region, Drift® roses begin flowering in mid-spring and continue on in waves every 5-6 weeks through early fall and/or the first hard frost.

Care

Water your Drift® rose generously until it is well established. We also recommend watering established plants periodically during droughts. Deadheading is not needed for continual flowering. Fertilizers are not necessary but can be applied, if desired, to increase floral display. Any fertilizer tailored for roses and/or shrubs, followed according to the label, will do.

Drift® roses are "shrub roses" and are much more pest and disease resistant than Hybrid-tea and Grandiflora roses. That said, any issue can be remedied by general products from the garden center.

Heavy pruning, if desired, is best reserved for late winter or early spring right before or when new growth begins to emerge. When pruning we recommend taking no more than 1/2 off the established plant. Avoid pruning during heat waves, droughts, and anytime during fall.

Note: Despite having prickles (thorns), roses are NOT deer resistant. Please plant accordingly.
