Granny Smith Apple (Malus domestica 'Granny Smith') is a variety of apple. Med-large size, green fruit, firm, crisp, sweet-tart flavor, white flowers, ripens mid season. It matures at about 10 to 15 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide with an upright rounded habit and a medium growth rate. Plant in full sun with average to moist soil moisture. Most apples need a different apple or crabapple variety blooming nearby for good pollination. It is grown on semi-dwarf rootstock for a smaller tree that is easier to manage and harvest. Hardy to USDA Zone 5a.
