Liriope spicata - Creeping Liriope

Creeping Liriope (Liriope spicata) is a tough, grass-like groundcover with narrow, dark green leaves that stay mostly evergreen through winter. Spikes of small, pale lavender flowers rise above the foliage in late summer. It spreads steadily by underground runners to fill in slopes, banks and shady areas where lawn struggles, typically reaching about 10 to 15 inches tall. Grows in full sun to shade and tolerates a wide range of soils, including dry shade once established. Because it spreads readily, give it room or use it where a vigorous groundcover is wanted. Hardy in USDA Zones 4 to 10.
