| Bill
Tribou started his own nursery business in 1974…growing
specialty rhododendrons evenings and weekends
on a small piece of property in Murrysville.
Located at the highest point
in Murrysville, Plumline sets high atop the ridge
above RT. 286, and travelers on Logan Ferry Road
often stop at "Plumline's Overlook"
to scan the impressive view. Incidentally, the
overlook is also a great spot to view holiday
fireworks displays.
Established
in 1975 by Bill and Karen Tribou, Plumline has
become a market leader in ornamental trees and
shrubs, and the 20 acre garden center is a picture
gallery in living color.
This
30 year old garden boasts over 70 varieties of
Japanese maples, numerous rare and unusual conifers,
broadleaf evergreens, and the list goes on and
on.
Bill
married Karen, and together, they formed a landscape
division and also devoted long hours to growing
plants at the nursery. The couple built a small
log cabin on the property, and their family began
to grow.
Two
children, 1 golden retriever, and 2 cats later……………the
business was expanding as was Bill & Karen’s
garden around their log cabin home.
Always
the perfectionist, Bill began to plant one of
each variety of tree or shrub available at the
nursery……..around the house as a display
garden for landscape customers.
Melody
and Micah are now young adults working in design
and management divisions at Plumline.
Cookie,
the golden retriever passed away in 2003 and is
greatly missed by all.
Local
High school and college students are given the
opportunity to gain extensive plant knowledge
while working summer jobs in the great outdoors
at Plumline.
Visitors
love the tranquil atmosphere and you will too.
The
Tribou garden has been described as spectacular,
unique, calm and inspiring.
